Toyota recall announced for Lexus, Tundra vehicles due to parking brake defect - Top Class Actions

Toyota has initiated a recall for certain model year 2022 Lexus NX250, NX350, and Toyota Tundra vehicles over concerns they may have been outfitted with defective electronic parking brakes.

The recall was initiated after Toyota discovered that the Skid Control ECU inside of the vehicles’ Brake Actuator Assembly may incorrectly detect an overcurrent of the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) Actuator.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says incorrectly detecting an overcurrent of the vehicles’ EPB can prevent it from being able to engage, resulting in the vehicle rolling away and increasing the risk of a crash.

The issue causes the recalled Toyota and Lexus vehicles from being in compliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, according to the Toyota recall.

Toyota dealers will attempt to remedy the issue by reprogramming the vehicles’ Skid Control ECU free of charge, according to the Toyota recall.

Recall notification letters are expected to be mailed out to vehicle owners by Oct. 31, according to the NHTSA.

Drivers who want more information about the recall can contact Toyota by phone at 1-800-331-4331 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236.

In July, Toyota announced it was recalling more than 75,000 of its model year 2022-2023 Toyota Tacoma pickup trucks over concerns they contained defective upper child seat anchors that could fail in the event of an accident.
