Finished in beautiful Speed Yellow with the rare stripe delete option, this 16-mile 2006 Ford GT is now up for grabs on Bring A Trailer.
Ford created the current-gen GT on the lines of the legendary GT40 that decimated the 1966 Le Mans with a 1-2-3 finish and won it for the next three consecutive years. At the time, it was one of the most sensational wins in American racing history and it gave Ford giant status in the world of automobiles almost instantly.
However, 2022 marks the end of the iconic Ford GT as the company embarks on a fully-electric future so now is the time to invest in this race-bred track-munching supercar. There’s one example on Bring A Trailer and it’s a 1-of-2 2006 Ford GT dressed in Speed Yellow with a “stripe delete” option. Read on for more.

Only 75 examples of the GT40-inspired 2006 Ford GT came in gorgeous Speed Yellow and only two of them came without the racing stripes, as in the "Stripe Delete" option, as well as the “Ford GT” side graphics for that particular model year. This example is the #20 of 75 and has only 16 miles on the odometer.
Beneath the hood, it boasts a mid-mounted supercharged 5.4-liter DOHC V8 engine thrashing out a massive 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. This immense power goes to the rear wheels via a Ricardo 6-speed manual transaxle and a helical limited-slip differential. For the mid-2000s, the Ford GT was insanely fast with a 0-to-60 MPH sprint of just 3.5 seconds on the way to a top speed, electronically-limited to 205 MPH. It outclassed Ferraris of its era and went on to become a legend of a car.

The bidding might set a record as one of the bidders, 1996MBZ, commented “Quite possibly this will become the most expensive no-stripes 2005-2006 Ford GT on Bring A Trailer history. Well, regardless if it has stripes or not.”
