YouTuber, Misha Charoudin, took the electric car out on the famous circuit to test its track performance, and it was an interesting experience.
The Tesla Model S is one of the fastest accelerating cars on the planet. And one of the most impressive electric cars currently available. But sometimes, speed is not everything. And that is very true when it comes to track performance in the Tesla, as sadly, it's not as good as you might think.
To find out just what it's like around a racetrack, Misha Charoudin has taken the Model S Raven around the Nurburgring to see if it can indeed feel good.
The car is of course in ludicrous mode for this track run, not the ludicrous+ mode that is also available. It is in standard steering mode, low regenerative braking mode and in hold stopping mode. Slip start is also turned on, which is basically a trick to disable the car’s traction control.
The adaptive suspension is on sport, with low ride height selected as well. And that is about it when it comes to the driving mode for the Model S Raven. So, what happens when the electric car finally makes it out on track?

Officially, this Tesla Model S is the P100D, but it's easier to call it the Raven, which is its new name. Charoudin takes the car out on track, with the owner of the Tesla, Peter, sat alongside him in the passenger seat. It is also worth pointing out that this car is stock, with no modifications applied.
The braking is one area that doesn’t seem to be up to the job for a track, with Charoudin claiming they are not really trusty. But we do get a good view of how quick the car can accelerate out of corners thanks to the electric drivetrain.

Another issue for the Model S is overheating as it is then pushed to the limit, something the Model 3 also suffered with around the track. Disaster then strikes as the brake pedal went down on its own, the regenerative braking deciding to go on its own. The pedal then goes completely flat, effectively giving Charoudin no brakes and putting an end to the pushing part of the lap.
Charoudin’s overall view is that the Raven is not suited to a fast lap around a racetrack, unless you upgrade your brakes. As it might throw up a nasty surprise otherwise!
