It is no secret that Bajaj and Triumph are jointly developing a new range of affordable motorcycles for India as well as global markets. The long-awaited motorcycles have been spotted for the first time. Two motorcycles have been spotted testing – a standard bike and a scrambler styled.

The spy images confirm that these two bikes have Triumph like styling elements. The motorcycles have rounded fuel tank with knee recesses, and round headlamp (showcasing modern classic). The bikes have a large rectangular digital display behind the headlamps. The shape looks similar to the one offered on the current KTMs. It is expected that the final production model will have different design for the instrument console.

While the naked street bike has a single-seat design, the scrambler version gets a split seat set-up. Also visible are handguards, a handlebar brace, a luggage rack and a windscreen on the scrambler bike. These are expected to be offered as optional accessories.

The motorcycles feature a single-cylinder engine with engine cases similar to the Bonnevilles. There is a large radiator, which suggest that the engine will be a liquid-cooled unit. It will have a 4-valve DOHC set-up, which we have already seen on KTMs. The Scrambler has a twin stack exhaust unit.

The engine specifications are yet to be revealed; however, the new Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle range is expected to start with 200-250cc motor. On a closer look, it is visible that the bikes are likely to be fitted with bigger capacity around 350-40cc engine.

The JV could offer the new range with multiple engine sizes. The new motorcycles could also use the differently tuned versions of KTM’s engines. Bajaj had patented a cost-effective VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) concept and these new engines could use the same technology.

The new Bajaj-Triumph motorcycles are based on a tubular steel frame, which is similar to the new Pulsar 250s. The motorcycle gets USD front forks, rear monoshocks and bolt-on rear subframes. The scrambler have longer travel and is likely to feature 19-inch front and 17-inch rear tyres. For braking, the bikes get 4-piston raidally mounted caliper with a single front disc. The scrambler gets Metzeler Karoo Street tyres.
